Meet the Illustrator!
Charlie Jacobs (CJ) is a nonbinary artist, illustrator, and educator working and living in Treaty 1 territory, Winnipeg MB. They completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts and their Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba. Their work varies from large-scale oil paintings to fantasy character designs and linocut printmaking. They take strong inspiration from the magic found in everyday life, like streaks of sunshine coming through the window in the early morning or the way fluffy snow falls on a clear winter day, and aim to live life and make work in a way that highlights that whimsy. Charlie’s work has been featured in local spaces such as the Edge Gallery and ARTlington studios, and has also been sold through private sales. This is the first book that they’ve illustrated, and they look forward to continuing their illustration work in the future and spreading more whimsy and joy through their practice.
